Which one should I start with?

Most customers don't buy all four at once. Here's how to think about the order.

Start with the Water Monitor if…

  • You check water tanks more than once a week
  • Tank failures or pump problems have cost you money or animals
  • You have tanks more than a few miles from the house

Why first: Water has the fastest payback. Customers tell us they recovered the cost in saved trips and fuel within 90 days. It's also the most common stress point on a working operation.

Add the Gate Monitor if…

  • You have gates that get used by pumpers, hunters, contractors, or guests
  • You've ever come home to animals out
  • You manage a perimeter you want to know is secure

Why second: Same install pattern as the water unit, same app, fastest add-on once you're already using the system.

Add the Feeder Monitor if…

  • You hunt your own ranch, manage hunts for guests, or lease for hunting
  • You have stock feeders in pastures you don't check daily
  • You've ever shown up to a feeder you assumed was full and it wasn't

Why for hunters: The night-before check matters more than people think. Knowing the feeder is full at 9 PM lets you commit to the morning hunt with confidence.

Add the Weather Station if…

  • You plan operations around rain — burning, spraying, hay cutting, calving
  • The nearest public weather station is 10+ miles away
  • You want exact rainfall data for pastures, lease tracking, or insurance documentation

Why for serious operators: Plant management, grazing rotations, and burn decisions get measurably better when you know what actually fell where.

Common questions

Do I really not need cell service?

Correct. RanchSense uses a satellite uplink — the sensor sends its data straight up, not through your phone carrier. This is the entire reason it works on rough country and back pastures where cell coverage doesn't reach.

What's the ongoing cost after the hardware?

Each unit includes RanchSense's monitoring service for ongoing satellite data and app access. Renewal terms are presented at checkout or by quote. Plan on the ongoing service being part of the total cost of ownership.

How long does the install actually take?

For a single tank or gate, you're 10 minutes from unboxing to seeing data in the app. Multi-tank or large-coverage setups take longer because of mounting locations, not because of the technology.

What if a sensor stops working?

Call us. We're an authorized RanchSense dealer and we handle warranty and replacement on your behalf so you don't have to navigate it yourself.
